The former Gogglebox star confirmed the couple had split again earlier this month, revealing Luke ended their romance on her birthday.
But speaking exclusively to The Sun Online at last night's Pride of Britain Awards, Scarlett revealed what really happened between them.
She said: "We're still friends, it's not like anything has happened.
"But we realised that we just like each other as friends. We friend-zoned each other.
"I have no idea how it actually happened."
The couple had previously split up in February after a year of dating, but rekindled their romance over the summer, with The Sun exclusively revealing they were back together.
Sadly Scarlett confirmed things hadn't worked out for a second time earlier this month, taking to her Facebook page to share the news.
She wrote: "I’m gonna have to write it because I feel a bit awkward as I’ve done some interviews about him being in my book that aren’t out for a while due to timings of the magazines.
"But me and Luke have finished due to a number of different things.
