Winter Olympics day 10: Results and live updates

Since coming out of retirement in 2016, figure skating pair Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir have only once tasted defeat.

That came against France’s Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron -- who sit less than two points behind them in the short dance program in Pyeongchang -- and forced the Canadians to change their routine.

This event has been billed as Canada vs. France, with the pairs expected to walk away with gold and silver.

”We’ve marked them as our rivals for a long time, from the start of this comeback," Moir told Reuters.

“We watched their worlds when we weren’t there and we have nothing but respect for these two.”

French figure skater Gabriella Papadakis suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her dance on Monday, with a clasp on her dress coming undone and leaving her breast exposed on live television.

"It was distracting. It was my worst nightmare coming true at the Olympics," she told reporters. It happened in the first seconds of the program.

"I had no choice than to just keep going. I felt it right away and I prayed, that's about all I could do."

Papadakis deserved enormous credit for continuing her performance, not least because it put her and partner Guillaume Cizeron in second place, not far behind the Canadian pair who set a new world record.

It was the second wardrobe malfunction on the ice in Pyeongchang after South Korean skater Min Yura's clasp came undone during the team event last week.
