Irish rock stars U2 have announced an American tour for 2018, with plans to stop at the SAP Center in San Jose on May 7, 2018.
The tour, called the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE tour, is in support of their forthcoming 14th studio album, titled "Songs of Experience," a companion album to their 2014 work, "Songs of Innocence." Both album titles are a reference to a collection of poems by the English poet William Blake.
"Songs of Experience" is due for release on Dec. 1.
The tour is one of a growing number utilizing Live Nation's new Verified Fan program, which aims to mitigate the problem of bots buying tickets to in-demand shows. Company CEO Michael Rapino stated to Billboard in September that the program has a 90 percent success rate in keeping ticket sales to just the real fans.
Tickets for the U2 shows will be sold exclusively through this Verified Fan program, so that "fans who truly want to attend the show with the best opportunity (can) get great tickets," a press release for the event reads.
