Nightmare on Hellsworth
Debbie Gibson, the former teen star who topped the charts in the late ‘80s with “Foolish Beat” and “Lost in Your Eyes,” headlines the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh’s Nightmare on Hellsworth, an outdoor Halloween party on Friday in Shadyside on Ellsworth Avenue at Maryland Avenue.
Over the past 30 years, the singer has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide and starred in 17 musicals, including “Les Miserables” on Broadway, “Grease” in London and Broadway tours of “Funny Girl,” “Beauty and the Beast” and more. She recently partnered with Alan Bersten in the 25th season of "Dancing With the Stars."
It runs from 7 to 11 p.m. Admission is free (under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian). With a $25 donation in advance at pittsburghpride.org/scary, enjoy complimentary beverages in the Super Scary VIP area across the street from the stage.
Fright Up Night
The final Night Market of the season, presented by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, will be a Fright Up Night on Saturday with live music at Market Square restaurants, drink specials, face painting, costume contests and more. It runs from 5 to 10 p.m.
The music lineup: DJ Selecta at PDP Night Market (5-10 p.m.); Dan Bubien & The Delta Struts at Diamond Market (5:30 and 7:45 p.m.); Bindley Hardware Co. at Simple Greek (6:15 and 8:30 p.m.); Lyndsey Smith and Soul Distribution at Original Oyster House (7 and 9:15 p.m.); Buffalo Rose at Moe’s Southwest Grill (5:30 and 7:45 p.m.); Two Tall Twins at Primanti Brothers (6:15 and 8:30 p.m.); The Olga Watkins Band at NOLA (7 and 9:15 p.m.).
Heaven again
Along with playing host to the likes of R.E.M., X and Duran Duran, Heaven was one of Pittsburgh’s hottest dance clubs of the ‘80s.
It is now the lobby to the Renaissance Pittsburgh hotel, Downtown, but on Friday it reverts back to Heaven for the “Hell Bent or Heaven Sent” 21+ bash.
Metro Mix DJ John Hohman — one of the original Heaven DJs -- will spin the top of songs of the ‘80s while guests dance under the original Heaven disco ball. There will also be a best costume contest.
Gates open at 9 p.m. Admission is $20. VIP Admission is available for $50 and includes access to the VIP lounge, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary drink ticket; www.eventbrite.com. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
